In 2024, the City of Goodness:
Medical Center “House of Butterflies”

- We expanded the capacity of the House of Butterflies medical center to help more children with severe illnesses. New rooms with isolation wards were opened, and treatment methods for pain and seizure syndromes were broadened.
- The medical team grew to 68 professionals, now including a child psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist.
- To support children with respiratory failure, we introduced medical oxygen concentrators and cryogenic tanks – saving lives has become easier and faster.
- We organized the medical symposium “Butterflies of Hope” in cooperation with Ohmatdyt Children’s Hospital, the Ukrainian Association of Pediatricians, and other partners – uniting doctors, managers, and leaders to improve pediatric palliative care in Ukraine.
- Our rehabilitation team works with children from across Ukraine, providing free accommodation, five daily meals, and complex rehabilitation for children and their mothers in difficult life circumstances.
- On October 3, 2024, we launched a medical emergency transport team to evacuate children in critical condition from dangerous and remote regions. By year’s end, the team had completed over 10 life-saving evacuations.
- We continued canistherapy sessions – 890 individual sessions for children, 70 for mothers, and 50 group sessions – improving emotional well-being through interaction with animals.
- A new plan for respiratory support, as well as X-ray and ultrasound diagnostics, was developed for the House of Butterflies.
- In total, 268 children received treatment in the palliative and rehabilitation units.
- Six children with disabilities began attending school for the first time.
Educational Projects for Children, Women, and Animals

- Launched the project “Educational Butterfly” to give learning opportunities to children who had been deprived of education – including those from orphanages, evacuation centers, and children with special educational needs.
- Created the “Caring Butterfly” practical course for mothers of children with disabilities, helping them gain caregiving and self-development skills.
- Organized inclusive reading sessions with dogs with disabilities from the Tails shelter – fostering empathy and inclusion among children.
- Partnered with the Chernivtsi Regional Police Department and Brenda Company to establish the children’s football club “Dynamo-Chernivtsi.”
- Opened a “Fighting Butterfly” karate club for children with disabilities living in the City of Goodness.
Academy “Mama Shyye” (Mama Sews)

On August 5, we launched a 12-month free sewing program for women in difficult circumstances.
The course includes both beginner and advanced techniques, professional equipment training, and psychological and legal support.
It also covers branding, product promotion, and job search skills.
The project is implemented by the City of Goodness Foundation in partnership with Peli Can Live and financially supported by ING Bank Ukraine.
The first two training cohorts attracted 58 women from across Ukraine seeking new opportunities for self-reliance and personal growth for their children.

Shelter “City of Goodness” and the Department for the Protection of Women’s Rights
- Provided shelter for 310 mothers, 720 children, and 12 elderly women from occupied and dangerous territories.
- On June 1, hosted the annual festival “Bukovynian Dream” – fulfilling the dreams of over 800 children who lost parents in the war or live with incurable diseases. This tradition has been going strong for 17 years.
- Expanded the kindergarten at the shelter to accommodate more children.
Psychological Support
For Children:
- 735 individual therapy sessions
- 250 consultations for mothers regarding child behavior
- 100 family sessions (mother + child)
- 20 art and fairy-tale therapy sessions
- 8 educational events (seminars, kindergarten lessons)
- 16 mediation consultations
For Mothers:
- 850 therapeutic sessions
- 150 consultations with mothers, staff, and residents
- 150 sessions with participants of the “Mama Shyye” Academy
- 20 online consultations for alumni and external requests
- 8 trainings at the “School of Conscious Motherhood”
- Regular supervision meetings, reports for social services, and mentor sessions
Medical Assistance for Shelter Residents
- 4,600 medical consultations (children and adults)
- 160 hospitalizations
- 720 specialist appointments
- 160 patients received dental care
- Dozens of diagnostic tests (X-ray, ultrasound, bloodwork)
- Regular vaccinations for children and adults
Legal Support
- 190 legal consultations provided
- 40 women received assistance with documentation (IDPs, social benefits, legal claims)
Case Management

- 96 individual development plans for women in the shelter
- Over 170 job interviews conducted
- 32 women employed with continued adaptation support
- 16 women enrolled in educational programs
- 75 women received housing or emergency assistance
- 50 training sessions and webinars held on empowerment and self-reliance
Animal Shelter “Tails”
- 160 dogs and cats received medical care and rehabilitation
- 32 dogs found loving families
